Reporting to the General Manager Projects & Engineering, the Projects Controls Officer will;  

  • Ensure that the project stays on track in terms of budget and timelines.  
  • Interface with project managers and planners to coordinate the schedules, tasks, milestones, quality assurance and the critical path. 
  • Prepare and present reports on all projects’ status and progress to the GM and other relevant internal stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare schedule progress reports, trending charts and schedule analysis.  
  • Maintain and control budgets from ASSESS to OPERATE / CLOSE-OUT Phases.  
  • Identify and evaluate potential cost, time and resource changes and then present for approval.  
  • Coordinate the implementation plan with project managers and planners and then escalate the areas of potential misalignment and improvement.  
  • Analyse budget verses actual forecasts based on planned effort earned values verses actual effort earned values including forecasted cost at completion.  
  • Support the Management of Change process to manage scope creep and slippage.  
  • Lead the Contractor and sub-contractor change orders in line with the approved contracting strategy.  

Qualifications/Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management or building architect.  
  • Basic understanding of variance analysis.  
  • Experience in enterprise resource planning tools and programs such as MRPII, SAP, Oracle, Primavera, MS Project, etc.  
  • In-depth experience with cost estimating rules and cost analysis. 
  • Experience with the use of industry standard Planning, Scheduling tools and software such as MS Project, P6 Primavera, Questor, Excel, SAP, Oracle, etc. 
  • Experience in the use of cost estimation standards such as AACE or similar. 

Technical Skills/Competencies: 

  • Evaluate and monitor all activities of the various phases of the project cycle to establish potential slippage, scope creep, resource changes, milestones, against the baseline for the critical path.  
  • Evaluate and input all discipline man-hours for a defined task within the approved scope of work in order to determine the level of resources needed (skills, time, budgets, expert help, etc.).
