Reporting to the General Manager Projects & Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer will lead all mechanical engineering matters on design, engineering and construction for projects in the oil and gas processing facilities, fabrication facilities, energy production facilities and power generation facilities based onshore, nearshore and offshore.  

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead all mechanical engineering matters including design changes and development, engineering reviews, construction reviews, acceptance of site changes, compliance with codes and standards.
  • Manage the mechanical engineering change register.
  • Oversee the development of mechanical engineering project briefs, technical specifications, and designs including drawings and bill-of-quantities.
  • Lead the mechanical engineering procurement processes.
  • Continually review the project scope of mechanical works to schedule deliverables and forecast estimated costs.
  • Monitor compliance with PNG building and safety regulations
  • Ensure all Subcontractors meet mechanical engineering contractual conditions of performance.
  • Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications.
  • Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to schedule progress
  • Conduct on site investigations and analyze data.

Qualifications/Experiences: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Current Registered Member of IEPNG or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in the use of P6 Primavera, Oracle based Timewriting and Project Cost Accounting, Document Control System Aconex or similar.
  • 15+ years’ experience in pre-Concept, Concept, pre-FEED and FEED scopes of work for onshore, nearshore and offshore Initiatives.

Technical Skills/Competencies: 

  • High level skill sets and knowledge in plant and equipment upgrading, detail design and construction in oil & gas, LNG Refineries, Petrochemical and Process plants.
  • Prefer solid mechanical engineering knowledge of all kinds of package equipment.
  • Solid facilities engineering skills and knowledge for systems such as Floating LNG (FLNG), Floating Storage Regasification Power Units (FSRPU), mechanical loading arms, oil and gas production systems, pipelines and piping systems.
  • High level skills in Cost Time and Resource stewardship.
