Role Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing oversight and direction to the ICT team and the business unit managers of the organization about strategy, standards, and opportunities to leverage technology to fulfil business needs.

It is accountable for providing leadership to the ICT team, ensuring the ICT infrastructure is working efficiently, fit for purpose systems are implemented, leading information & data security awareness and training, and providing project management support for key infrastructure initiatives. It is essential for the Senior Manager –Information Communication & Technology to promote ICT as a true business partner and establish productive relationships with all internal stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategy and leadership
    • Develop an ICT vision, strategy and roadmap that aligns with the organisation’s goals and objectives
    • Develop and implement an ICT governance framework that will enable achieving the ICT vision
    • Advise the Executive Leadership Team about new technology trends that are relevant to the organisation ’s objectives and evolving requirements.
    • Participate as an integral member of the Executive General Manager, Corporate Services (EGMCS) leadership team
    • Develop and manage the ICT operating budget to ensure that resources are deployed efficiently and effectively to achieve the primary objectives
    • Review annually capital expenditure requirements for ICT projects
    • Support the EGMCS to provide ICT advice to the Executive Leadership Team
    • Continually ensure that the ICT infrastructure, investments, and solutions are aligned with the business objectives of the organisation
    • Build strong relationships with the organisation’s business unit managers, to gain an in-depth understanding of their challenges, and opportunities, and where ICT may be able to support through technology solutions
    • Implement the most suitable and efficient ICT organisational structure to support and engage with the business.
  • Infrastructure and Operations
    • Governance
      • Develop and continually review ICT policies and procedures, ensuring ICT standards, and methodologies are established and enforced
      • Ensure all systems and infrastructure documentation is always kept up to date by the ICT team
      • Ensure an ICT change management process is implemented.
    • Infrastructure
      • Ensure the server and network infrastructure that supports the organization’s operations at all sites and business applications implemented are fit for purpose and meet the organisations business needs
      • Ensure reliable communication links are implemented at the organisation’s sites with appropriate service agreements and service levels negotiated with the service providers
      • Ensure the organisation’s enterprise network is secure with leading next generation firewall implemented to manage and monitor traffic
      • Ensure systems and user accounts access to the organisation servers and hosted data are managed using industry standard best practice.
    • Business systems
      • Ensure an effective process of identifying business requirements against the organisation’s business objectives is done to ensure fit for purpose solutions are identified
      • Implement, test and provide training for all business systems internally or through business partners where applicable
      • Ensure that systems are in place to ensure that business applications are maintained and kept up to date.
    • Help desk
      • Ensure an effective ICT Help Desk system is in place and resourced to offer excellent service and attention to internal
      • Ensure issues are found through root cause analysis, and long-term solutions are identified and implemented.
    • Information and data security
      • Develop and implement standards, guidelines, and procedures for information security
      • Plan, implement, manage, monitor, and enhance security procedures to secure the data, systems, and networks of the organisation
      • Establish a comprehensive information and data security awareness program to ensure staff are aware of their responsibilities in relation to cyber security and their safety online.
    • Backup and Disaster recovery
      • Ensure implementation and ongoing testing of ICT backup and disaster recovery plans as part of business continuity procedures across the organisation.
    • Performance metrics
      • Establish metrics to track ICT effectiveness and gauge its impact on the business
      • Develop KPIs in coordination with the business managers to determine the appropriate service levels for the ICT team.
    • Training
      • Ensure ongoing training is provided to the ICT team to enable them to provide service to internal clients and support the ICT infrastructure
      • Ensure there is accessible, regular, and appropriate user education, training, and security awareness for the business applications used within the organisation.
    • ICT procurement and assets
      • Ensure for computers, telephony, and other IT equipment, equipment is identified as part of a standard operating hardware kit and reviewed periodically with availability in the market
      • Ensure all ICT procurement for new and replacement hardware is based on strong procurement procedures to ensure value for money
      • Ensure ICT assets are logged and managed on the organisation’s asset register.
    • Project management
      • Maintain control over all ICT projects, making sure projects are well-planned, resourced, tracked, and reported, and delivered with minimal impact on users. Projects are completed on schedule, within the budget, and fit for purpose
      • Provide project management support to other key infrastructure projects undertaken by the organisation
    • People management
      • Make a positive impact on the division’s culture, performance, and service to internal customers as a part of the EGMCS leadership team
      • Guide the team in adopting best practices and efficient business process management
      • Support the team by offering direction, coaching, leadership, and empowerment, as well as feedback through performance reviews and ongoing supervision
      • Regularly supervise employees and assess their performance in line with their individual performance goals, providing comments to foster cooperative working relationships
      • Encourage and promote a courteous, and respectful workplace

Qualifications/Educational Requirements:

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience leading an ICT team
  • Formal tertiary qualifications in computer science or an ICT field
  • Strong organizational and project management experience
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders both technical and non-technical
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Experience in the management of ICT help desk services
  • Experience in managing cyber security challenges and risks
  • Experience with SaaS and cloud-hosted solutions
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365, and Windows server environments
  • Capable of advising executive and leadership teams with assurance on diverse ICT-related issues.
