Kumul Petroleum Holdings commits K50, 000 to 2018 Medical Symposium
Papua New Guinea’s National Oil and Gas Company (NOC) Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) today announced its support of the 2018 Medical Symposium with a K50, 000 commitment.
The 54th Annual Medical Symposium will be held in Madang from September 2-7 highlighting the theme – “Rural Health Services in Papua New Guinea“.
Every year the PNG Medical Society convenes and conducts the Annual Medical Symposium, a forum which brings together various medical professionals to present the latest research findings to support policies, treatment or preventative measures. The forum also provides an opportunity for all standard treatment for the different diseases in Papua New Guinea to be reviewed and revised according to new research findings.
Managing Director of KPHL Wapu Sonk said the Medical Symposium was an important forum and KPHL has been supporting the event for several years.
Mr Sonk said, “As the National Oil and Gas Company, KPHL has strong values and we are committed to promoting these values. One of these values is health and wellbeing.
“Through our commitment to the Annual Medical Symposium, these values are being realised as the forum discussions will benefit the people of Papua New Guinea through finding solutions to medical issues affecting our people.”
President of the Medical Society of PNG, Professor Nakapi Tefuarani said the Medical Society was not only a scientific organisation but also functions as a source of professional medical advice to the PNG Ministry of Health, the Secretary for Health and the government in general on health issues.
“The Society is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation which depends on member’s subscriptions and funds donated by organisations such as Kumul Petroleum Holdings. We are grateful for any assistance we get.”
