KPHL welcomes back two Postgraduate GDP students from Spain

Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited, PNG National Oil and Gas Company (NOC) is thrilled to have two of its Postgraduate students returned to PNG after the completion of their Master’s Degree programme in Spain.

The graduates are Elliona Maso and Zechariah Yakap, both graduated with their Master’s Degrees in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production from Centro Superior de Formacion Repsol (CSFR) in Madrid, Spain.

Managing Director Wapu Sonk on behalf of KPHL while welcoming the graduates said, “KPHL is pleased to have them back from an intensive 7 months Master’s Degree programme in Spain through a partnership arrangement with Spanish Oil and Gas giant Repsol”.

Mr. Sonk said training through partnership with internationally renowned oil and Gas Companies like Repsol adds value to KPHL, the industry itself and Papua New Guinea as far as skills set and industry tailored training matters.

Mr. Sonk acknowledged Repsol for fully paying the training cost for the two graduates and extend the gratitude to the company how was in the country not producing any oil and gas but just exploring

“Let me also thanks Repsol  E&P Executive Director Luis Cabra for extending the opportunity to KPHL which subsequently benefited our graduates. We are very thankful for such partnership we have and KPHL is very committed to enhance the partnership going forward,” he added.

Meanwhile, the two graduates were happy to be back at KPHL and PNG and vowed to give their best to add value to the company and the industry.

“Training aboard was a dream come true for me,” Mr. Yakap said. “We were taught about almost all different aspects of Oil and Gas exploration and production. Here at Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited, I will work as a Petroleum Engineer and I look forward to use the knowledge and skills attained to further the good work of the company in my capacity as an engineer,” the young graduate added.

Colleague graduate Ms. Maso added; “the Master’s programme sponsored by Repsol was one of the most exhilarating experience I have ever had. The programme ran for seven months and engaged employees across the globe in countries where Repsol has operations. If anything, Repsol is truly resilient given that in this current low market oil and gas price environment, it still has the capacity to train young professionals from both its Repsol offices and other participating National Oil Companies including us from Kumul Petroleum Holdings,” she remarked.
