PNG’s National Oil and Gas Company (NOC) Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (Kumul Petroleum) has announced a K1million support funding for the 2019 Oceania Cup campaign.

Kumul Petroleum Managing Director Wapu Sonk presented the K1m cheque to the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League officials today at Kumul Petroleum Office.

Mr Sonk when presenting the cheque said the NOC was happy to assist PNG’s national teams; the PNG Kumuls and PNG Orchids team for the Oceania Cup tournament.

“This is not just a first time support and commitment to rugby league development in the country from the National Oil and Gas Company.

“We have been involved in rugby league development through various programs including PNG Hunters, PNG Kumul, Kroton Hela Wigmen rugby league club and other tiers and offseason competitions like Coca-Cola Ipatas Cup,” Mr Sonk said.

The Managing Director stressed that the NOC is keenly investing in sporting activities as part of its corporate social investment programs to add value to sporting codes, providing opportunities for sportsmen and sportswomen to excel, learn valuable life lessons and develop our human resource through sports.

He wished the national team all the success and urged the teams to be good ambassadors of the country.
