Kumul Petroleum Holdings supports Oceania’s Elite Swimmers
Papua New Guinea’s National Oil and Gas Company (NOC) Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL) today announced its commitment of K50, 000.00 as a Silver Sponsor of the Oceania Swimming Championships to be held in Port Moresby later this month.
The 2018 Oceania Championships will be held from June 25-30 and is expected to attract 150 elite athletes from a total of 16 international swimming teams.
Kumul Petroleum Managing Director Wapu Sonk said KPHL was proud to be associated with a sport such as swimming which put PNG on the world map when Ryan Pini MBE brought home the first Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games in the 100-metre butterfly event in 2006.
Mr Sonk said, “As the National Oil and Gas Company, we are pleased to be a Silver sponsor of the Oceania Swimming Championships as it aligns well with our vision to create opportunities for Papua New Guineans. This international event will provide a platform for our athletes to step up and showcase their talents in a competitive field.”
The 2018 Oceania Swimming Championships is expected to bring swimming powerhouse Australia’s athletes amongst other Oceania representatives.
The event will be held at Taurama Aquatic Centre and Fairfax Harbour and not only should it be exciting to watch, but some Oceania records could be broken.
“We value our community investments, especially to sports such as the recent Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, the PNG Games in Kimbe and rugby league, which contribute to the development of elite sportsmen and women and good citizens of our country.”
