Kumul Petroleum Congratulates PNG LNG on First LNG Shipment
Kumul Petroleum Congratulates PNG LNG on First LNG Shipment.
We, the Board, Management and Staff of the National Petroleum Company PNG (Kumul Petroleum) take this opportunity to congratulate ExxonMobil PNG Ltd and Joint Venture Partners of the PNG LNG Project on the maiden LNG shipment which departed for Japan on 26 May 2014.
This shipment has propelled PNG onto the world stage as a major LNG exporter in the Asia Pacific region.
Despite the tremendous challenges faced whilst operating in PNG, a country famous for its rugged geography, its diverse cultures, its unique resource ownership laws and development status; this major engineering project was delivered in four years, which is a significant achievement.
Completion of this project and the maiden LNG shipment also demonstrates to major investors that Papua New Guinea has a progressive economy and major projects can be delivered in the country.
The PNG LNG Project will have a transformational impact on the country going forward. In addition to increasing the nation’s GDP, it will assist the Government and its agencies to further develop social and economic initiatives to secure the long-term future and growth of PNG.
As the third largest partner in the PNG LNG Project, we commend the Managing Director, Peter Graham and the ExxonMobil team for their excellent leadership, project management and ability to mobilize a large construction workforce on a level that we have never experienced in the country.
We look forward to the continued success of the Project as the second train begins production and the third train is developed.
