KPHL donates K50,000 to Kadovar disaster relief fund

Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited (KPHL), PNG’s national oil and gas company (NOC) today presented K50,000 to the Kadovar Volcano disaster relief fund.

KPHL Managing Director Mr Wapu Sonk presented the cheque to East Sepik Governor Hon Alan Bird.

Mr Sonk said KPHL’s funding was part of the National Government’s effort to assist the Kadovar islanders following the volcanic eruptions that left them without shelter and food.

“On behalf of the Board, Management and Staff of Kumul Petroleum, I extend our sympathies to the victims of the Kadovar volcano disaster. As a corporate citizen, KPHL has a social responsibility to all Papua New Guineans and we feel obliged to help at this time of need for our people of Kadovar Island in East Sepik,” he said.

Mr Sonk added that such assistance to communities across Papua New Guinea has been an ongoing activity of the NOC.
